The
first snowfall of the year has fallen, so, the Christmas is not too far. It is
time to explore all the Christmassy things going- on around Inverness. The
Inverness winter festivities of the Christmas begin with Christmas switch- on
usually held at the end of the November. The festive season kicks off with the
Christmas light parade led by Santa Clause. Then the countdown to Christmas
will underway in Inverness on 20th November where hundreds of
families gather outside the Town House to enjoy the celebration which marks the
switching- on of the Highland Capital’s
Christmas Lights by Santa Clause and Provost Jimmy Gray. An enjoyable mixture
of Christmas carols and traditional music is played against the backdrop of a
spectacular projection which is shown by Arts in Motion which bring the Town
House to life with animations just before the arrival of the Santa and Provost
Jimmy.
At the Christmas day, families go to
Whin Park for some festive frolics at the Winter Wonderland. They meet Santa,
his reindeer and walk amongst the beautifully lit up Christmas trees in Inverness and enjoy the thrills of fairground
rides.
Every year there is a traditional
performance of rib- tickling family entertainment or Christmas show at Eden
Court theatre. There are carol singing services held at various venues across
the Inverness and there is mulled wine and mince pies too.
Inverness centre is perfect for
stocking up for Christmas thanks to its wonderful travel links, compact main
streets and shopping centre. You will also find some incredible seasonal craft
fairs. In the Eastgate Shopping Centre you find from top fashion to state of
the art celebration and for unique Christmas presents, the charm of the
Victorian Market is ideal. Near Nairn, Eden Court Theatre and Brodie Castle
traditionally host Christmas fair stocked with beautiful arts and crafts,
delicious edibles and ideal for special gifts.
In short, one can say that the whole
city does the merry making all together in its full swing. People enjoy each
